Information You Submit
When you enter a name, phone number, or address in a search form, that entry goes to the third-party provider that returns the results. San Mateo People Search does not save a copy of those searches on its own servers. A message sent through the contact channel contains the details you decide to provide. Those details are used to review and answer the message.
Information Collected Automatically
Standard server logs may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and visit times. Aggregated log data helps maintain the service, diagnose faults, and show which San Mateo resources visitors find useful. Cookies or comparable technologies may also support basic site analytics and advertising measurement where those functions apply.
How Information Is Used
The limited information described above supports site operation, traffic measurement, troubleshooting, and page improvements. San Mateo People Search does not sell a visitor list or assemble individual visitor profiles.
Privacy Beyond This Service
Links may lead to City of San Mateo portals, San Mateo County offices, California agencies, libraries, and outside search tools. Information submitted after following a link is controlled by the receiving site's policy, not this one. The same distinction applies to sponsored search results, which an outside company supplies.
When Information Is Shared
Hosting and technical support providers may process server logs while performing services on our behalf. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data noted above. Visitor information may also be disclosed when valid legal process requires it, but it is not otherwise shared.
Safeguards and Retention
An encrypted connection protects data while it travels to and from the service. Server logs are kept only for as long as the operational purposes above require. Because visitors do not create accounts, San Mateo People Search holds no visitor password or account profile.
Visitors Under 18
The service is meant for adults and is not directed to children. Personal information is not knowingly collected from anyone younger than 18. If a minor appears to have submitted such information, send a notice through the contact channel so it can be removed.
California Privacy Choices
Depending on how the law applies, California residents may have rights to know, correct, or delete personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, commonly called the CCPA as amended. A request can cover the contact mailbox and available server logs, which hold very little visitor information. Use the Contact page to submit it.
The California Privacy Protection Agency's DROP system under the Delete Act provides a separate deletion route for information held by registered data brokers. It does not remove lawful public records from the San Mateo City Clerk, San Mateo County ACRE, California courts, or another government custodian. A request to correct, restrict, or remove an official record must go to the office that controls it.
